The Mariental Municipality, established under the Local Authority Act, 23 of 1992 (as amended), is committed to providing essential services that improve the quality of life for both residents and visitors to Mariental. These services include reliable water and electricity supply, waste management, sewage collection, road maintenance, storm water drainage, street lighting, the development of parks and recreational areas, town planning, land sales, and emergency services. The Municipality operates Monday to Friday, from 07:00 to 16:00, with financial transactions processed until 15:00, ensuring efficient service delivery and a welcoming environment for the community and all who visit.

The Office of the Mayor supports Mariental residents and visitors by providing leadership, addressing community concerns, and promoting development. It offers information on municipal policies, events, and programs, while assisting with local issues and connecting citizens to relevant departments. The Office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall administration of Mariental Municipality, ensuring efficient service delivery and the implementation of municipal policies. The Mariental Fire Brigade is a critical division of the Mariental Municipality, dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents, businesses, and visitors. The Fire Brigade provides a range of emergency services, including fire suppression, rescue operations, and response to hazardous material incidents.

In addition to emergency response, the Fire Brigade is actively involved in community outreach and education programs, offering fire safety training, fire inspections, and preparedness guidance to prevent and minimize risks. Operating with trained personnel and specialized equipment, the Mariental Fire Brigade is on call 24/7 to respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring that Mariental remains a safe and secure community for all.

If you wish to request a relaxation for the lateral and rear boundary wall of your building, please submit an application to the Mariental Municipality. This application will allow for deviations from standard building regulations, subject to approval.

Whenever you construct a building, boundary wall, or carry out renovations, you are required to submit a building plan to the office of the Building Inspector. Failure to do so constitutes illegal construction, which is punishable under Municipal laws.

If you come across any illegal building construction, please report it to the Mariental Municipality. Unauthorized construction can pose safety risks and violate local building codes.
